Second largest manufacturer in India, Hyundai Motor India Limited has recently announced the launch of its smallest car in the month of October 2011. The recent increase in the sales of small car segment has led the company in coming out with a car in the small car segment. This is nothing but the Hyundai Eon designed on the platform of Hyundai Santro.
Various specifications of the Hyundai Eon are confirmed. This car comes with a 814cc sohc 3 cylinder petrol engine which is claimed to give 21.1 kmpl. Hyundai Eon: Interiors |
Mr.
Arvind Saxena, Hyundai India, Director Sales & Marketing, had recently
spoken out that, "There is no car that is comparable with EON. Yes, it is
an entry-level car but with no compromise. It is a very spacious car with a large
boot - something that you get only in bigger cars. And most importantly it
doesn't compromise on style."
The
car size is expected to be little larger than other cars of this segment.
Hyundai Eon is spotted at many places on road tests. From various observations
it is evident that the car is taller and wider than Maruthi Alto. It is
expected to have its overall length as 3620 mm. the car's width and height is
expected to be 1545mm and 1500mm respectively.

Hyundai Eon: Rear Side View |
From various spy pictures it is evident that the front grille of Eon is mostly same as that of i10 (also resembles some of fluidic design of new Verna). Further the front side of the car shows the roof mounted antenna just as like i10. Also the car is missing the body coloured handles and side mirrors. Eon comes with an integrated rear spoiler with top mounted brake lamps. The lamp clusters does its way in the looks of the car.
The car is expected that the car will be launched with a price range of 2.50 to 3 lakh. Further Eon is expected its launch in the mid October. Also Hyundai is clear that there are no plans in withdrawing the Santro.
So Eon makes its place in the small car segment making its rivals threatened with its increased fuel economy, space and looks.
Will post any further updates as soon as possible.
