Mercedes Benz to enter Mid Range Segment

The increase in Fuel prices not only hit the markets of Small and Mid class cars but also the High Class Cars. This has certainly reduced the sales of high class cars. So, one of the Automotive Giants, Mercedes Benz has announced its mid range segment of cars in Indian Market.

Peter Honegg, Managing Director and CEO, on speaking to the reporters on thursday, said, "We are positively considering to enter the mid range of cars in India over the next two- three years. This will help us take the Mercedes brand to larger masses and increase our sales in the Country."

So we may expect mid segment cars of Mercedes in the Indian roads by 2013. Mercedes is expecting that this change will increase their sales in large masses. These cars are planned to assemble in its Chakan facility, Pune.

At present, Mercedes C- Class is the starting range of Mercedes Benz in the Indian Market. Also the starting price of Rs. 28 Lakh (Ex- Showroom Price).

Mercedes Benz has recently launched its dealership in Ahmedabad. While speaking in that occasion, Mr. Honegg said, "It's getting Bumpy for luxury cars now as the fuel prices have increased and interest rate is not helping in sales. the pace of growth may slow but in long term, we see India becoming world's third largest car market in next ten years."
